I recently had the pleasure of photographing another beautiful wedding at Dudley Register Office. This lovely couple had seen my previous blog about a short, low-key wedding I photographed there a few years ago, and they loved the natural, candid style of my work. From our initial contact, they expressed a preference for natural photos and explained that their wedding would be small and intimate, which made my ceremony-only two-hour package the perfect choice.

My two-hour ceremony-only packages usually begin about half an hour before the ceremony, which gives me the perfect opportunity to capture natural, candid moments of guests arriving, as well as the couple greeting friends and family. Then comes the ceremony itself. I typically position myself at the front of the room to capture the best angles of the couple exchanging their vows and those special, intimate moments.
Once the ceremony is over, I like to give the couple a little breathing space so their guests can offer congratulations. This not only keeps the day feeling relaxed but also provides a great opportunity to capture more candid, natural photos of everyone enjoying the moment.
When the timing feels right, we move on to formal photos. Afterward, I usually take the couple away from the guests for a short walk to capture relaxed, natural couple photos in a beautiful setting. By this point, the two hours typically come to an end, having captured all the essential moments of the wedding day in a smooth, unobtrusive way.

I arrived at Dudley Register Office about half an hour before the ceremony, as I always do for my two-hour ceremony-only packages. This gave me the perfect opportunity to capture the guests arriving and the family settling in. Not long after, the groom arrived, and I was able to photograph plenty of natural, candid moments—friends and family hugging him and sharing in the excitement of the day.
Shortly after, the bride arrived. In a lovely break from tradition, the couple walked into the registry office hand-in-hand, which made for some beautiful, authentic photos. The ceremony itself was relatively short, perfectly suiting the relaxed style the couple had envisioned.
After the ceremony, we had a brief moment to take some formal photos in the ceremony room before the newlyweds were congratulated by friends and family. Once everyone had a chance to mingle, we moved on to the confetti shot. By encouraging everyone to step a little further from the building, I was able to capture the confetti in the foreground while perfectly framing the registry office in the background. It was a fun, lively moment, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
Being a relatively small wedding, the formal family photos were quick and easy. With a concise family photo list, we captured all the important shots in no time, making the day feel effortless and relaxed—just as the couple had hoped.
Once the formalities were complete, we were lucky to have the lovely green grounds of Dudley Register Office all to ourselves, as there were no other weddings scheduled that day. The couple and their guests relaxed outside, chatting and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, which gave me the perfect opportunity to capture more natural, candid moments.
As time was running short, I suggested a little walk with the couple while the guests made their way to the reception venue for the wedding breakfast. We strolled around the grounds, exploring some charming castle ruins just a few minutes away, surrounded by greenery and flowers. Returning to the registry office grounds, we took a few more relaxed photos, keeping the mood fun and lighthearted.
Despite the couple initially expressing that they might feel awkward in front of the camera, they were a joy to photograph. Their happiness and natural chemistry shone through in every shot, making my job effortless and enjoyable. Before long, my two-hour ceremony-only package came to an end, and it was time to leave the couple to continue their day with their wedding breakfast and the celebrations ahead.
