PEAK DISTRICT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
If you’re planning a wedding surrounded by rolling hills, dramatic landscapes, and some of the most beautiful scenery in England, Peak District wedding photography is all about capturing that scenery alongside your big day.
I’m Thom, a Peak District wedding photographer specialising in relaxed, documentary-style wedding photography across Derbyshire, Chesterfield, and the Peak District National Park. My approach is simple: no awkward posing, no forced smiles.

PEAK DISTRICT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – FAQ
What is the best time of year for Peak District weddings?
The Peak District is beautiful year-round, but late spring through early autumn (May–September) is the most popular time for weddings thanks to longer days and softer evening light. Autumn weddings are also stunning, with warm colours and dramatic landscapes, while winter weddings offer a cosy, atmospheric feel at venues.
That said, winter can sometimes limit access to more remote locations if you’re hoping for wild Peak District couple photos in the hills. As an avid hiker, I can tell you that conditions can get muddy, windy, and rainy. Even so, there are always great spots that work all year round. Many of the edges, such as Curbar Edge and Stanage Edge, are easy to reach via solid paths, often with gravel sections and nearby parking, making them ideal in almost any season.
Can you photograph windy or rainy Peak District weddings?
Absolutely. The Peak District is known for its ever-changing weather, and I’m very experienced in photographing weddings in wind, rain, and everything in between. If you’re hoping to take your couple photos somewhere in nature and still enjoy the scenery of the Peak District, I have plenty of great rainy-day alternatives.
Locations like Padley Gorge offer natural shelter from the rain while still feeling wild and atmospheric. With moss-covered boulders, small waterfalls, and ancient woodland, it’s a beautiful spot for relaxed, natural photographs. It’s also an incredible location during autumn, when the colours really come alive.
Do you travel across Derbyshire and the Peak District?
Yes. I regularly photograph weddings across Derbyshire, the Peak District National Park, and surrounding areas, including countryside venues, barns, and outdoor ceremony locations. Travel within the Peak District is always included.
